sunday morning.
a hot coffee in hand, listening to the cicadas and breathing in the early morning smell of summer.
a BLT for breakfast.
one book finished, another quick read started.
cheese scones and chocolate muffins baked for a picnic at the park later that day.
a very good summery, sunday morning.

weekending

a date on friday night
dinner and a movie
was a lovely way to end the week and start the weekend
i had forgotten what a late night does though
we all woke very sleepily on saturday morning!
an afternoon shopping
frappés and gingerbread men
there was beautiful sun
and heavy rain
quiet time and a dance party.
a morning spent at the table
sipping on my coffee and chatting to the little miss
while she drew (and drew!)
times like that make me ridiculously happy.

weekending

our weekend started with sunshine
resting and playing quietly outside
the beginnings of a cold for the little miss and i
not fun in the heat of summer.
a little bit of knitting – a gift, finally finished.
sunday morning we woke to a storm outside
our colds much worse, the mr too
and no power.
“maintenance” they said. sigh
out for coffee we went, breakfast too – just because.
once home and the power restored
we all rested – lemon and honey drinks all round
the weather wild
wind, the strongest its been since we moved here, im sure.
potted plants moved inside, our tomato plants all falling over
i nervously kept watch on the swan plants and sunflowers too
home-made pizza for dinner
a movie and an early night for all.

a weekend unplugged
no computer
and very little tv
instead, beautiful sunshine
sun-kissed shoulders
walks to the beach
a few holes of golf played
(the kids and the mr. not i, i just go along for the walk)
the garden free of weeds, once again
we stopped in at the op-shop
a few books found
one i have almost finished
unable to put it down
our weekend – full of sun and warmth
it didn’t just feel like spring, it felt summer-ish
and for that, i am so grateful.

the little miss and i
had a lovely saturday morning together
shopping for some spring clothes for her
dresses, skirts and even new shoes
(i couldn’t say no to the shoes, they were too cute)
coconut loaf made
for afternoon tea
a new cushion cover started
it’s certainly been a long time since
i have picked up the sticks or the hook
im not sure on the colours
but yarn from the stash will just have to do
pancake stacks for breakfast
as kindly requested
the kids and i
spent a quiet afternoon at home
drawing and creating
car races and cleaning
the big game watched
eighty minutes of sitting on the edge of my seat
but a wonderful way to end the weekend

[ late ] weekending

a quick clean of the house
getting all the chores out-of-the-way
family visited for the afternoon
a special lunch up town
a last-minute decision
the little miss’ bags packed
and off on an adventure
at nanny and grandads house
our home is so quiet without her!
lazy sunday morning
coffee and reading in bed
one book finished
another one started
quick trip to the shop for a few things
and home again to start a long over due job
cleaning out the garage
finally some order in there!
and a large pile ready for donation
an afternoon spent playing chess
not one game did i win
a delicious roast for dinner
a phone call to the little miss
listening to her chat to the little man
was the sweetest thing ever
and then we settled in to watch the game
looking forward to the final next weekend!
