the sun was already intense when we walked to kindy at 9am. the little man and i took our time walking home, searching for cocoons and caterpillars near swan plants.

the little miss had her first swimming lesson today, i was so proud of her. i stood watching her through the window and oh my. be still my heart.

i started to make more lolly cake. i always feel wrong cutting off the little eskimo heads. i had trouble making the butter and condensed milk come together. then i burnt the butter and almost set the kitchen on fire. there was black smoke all through the house. i shall try again tomorrow.

i weeded the gardens and we washed the car (finally).

we ate fish’n'chips at the beach for dinner. the late sun still intense. we took a walk, the kids on their scooters.

a hot and sticky summer day.

a good start to the week, a good monday.

errands ran and house cleaned.
and then two kid-free hours spent at the coffee shop.
good coffee and great conversation.
i feel blessed to have her as a friend.

i closed my eyes, breathed in the salty air and smiled.
(i even dipped my toes into the water.)

i had a heart-sinking moment.
it all worked out okay-ish in the end though.
and tomorrow is a new day.

there have been cars and trains and train tracks in every room of the house lately.
we have a tough time keeping them all in the one place.

dinner at the beach.
the wind was wild.
for a place that is constantly moving and changing,
i feel such stillness there.

searching for balance.
